PHILIPSBURG:---  The wastewater treatment system at the Leonald Conner Primary School in Cay Bay has now fully resumed operations, thanks to repairs through the Sint Maarten Trust Fund. Not many Sint Maarten schools can boast of having an in-house system to treat and process the wastewater from its bathrooms and canteen. The Leonald Conner School was one of them - at least that was until Hurricane Irma devastated the island in the early morning hours of September 6, 2017. In addition to severe damage to the schools building, the wastewater treatment plant was rendered inoperable by Irmas catastrophic winds.

 PHILIPSBURG:--- The Sint Maarten Lions Clubs Signature Vision Screening Project for this Lionistic year 2022/2023 is well underway with over 3400 students and seniors having their eyes tested for the possibility of any impaired vision challenges. The project, which started on March 13th will continue Monday through Friday until the 24th at the Lions Civic Center in Sucker Garden. PHILIPSBURG:--- HURRYcane Run, a board game that teaches children about hurricane preparedness, is now available for students to play in their elementary schools. HURRYcane Run is developed by the Student Support Services Division (SSSD) and UNICEF the Netherlands (UNICEF NL) to strengthen school disaster and hurricane preparedness.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Understanding that the youth of St. Maarten is the future, the Police Force of St. Maarten also aims to contribute towards their education and knowledge.

Farm4you Project Takes Major Step Forward To Self-Sufficiency

MARIGOT--The Farm4You aquaponics project had its grand opening and tour in Agrment on Sunday, giving attendees an insight into creating an energy-efficient, natural, healthy and sustainable food source for the island.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Belair Community Center was the center of attraction on Saturday, March 11, 2023, as it hosted the first annual Miss Essence and Mind. The Center was packed with pageantry lovers and supporters of the 6 beautiful ladies who graced the stage in various swimsuit segments of the show.

Pageant organizer Paula Gordon and her team Essence and Mind Committee left no stone unturned as everything was well planned out for the audience to enjoy from you entered the transformed Center you felt Royal with a welcome drink provided by sponsor LaMarca to pictures taken by Ronchi James to a well-decorated stage.

The show started on time with a beautifully choreographed dance by former Queen Melissa Boasman and Shanice Powell then to the opening segment of introduction that was not judged to the various segments which were

Thirty volunteers clean up Fort Amsterdam
