Island Gems Apoya La Campaa De Esterilizacin/Castracin De Awf

POINTE BLANCHE, Sint Maarten – Algunos perros y gatos han sido esterilizados gracias al apoyo brindado a Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) por Island Gems Charity Foundation.

Como Island Gems no otorga fondos a ningn grupo, el veterinario pag un total de US $ 750 por las operaciones de esterilizacin. Estos fondos complementarn la campaa de esterilizacin/castracin en proceso de AWF destinada a reducir la poblacin de perros y gatos callejeros y no deseados en la isla.

Desde su fundacin en 1992, AWF ha facilitado 3.363 adopciones, 14.794 esterilizaciones, 947 tratamientos para la sarna y 18.356 viajes en taxi al veterinario Read more

Witu Concerned About Dr. M.L.K. Jr. Primary School

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten — The President of the Windward Islands Teachers Union (WITU) Stuart Johnson submitted a letter to the Honorable Minister of Education drs. Rudolph Samuel on Friday, March 4th,2022 regarding the ongoing situation at the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Primary School.

In the letter, Johnson outlined,on behalf of our members of the WITU and by extension our concern for all staff along with students I am sending you correspondence.

Ministro De Vromi Doran Y Personal De Apoyo Visitan El Espacio Del Proyecto Del Aeropuerto

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) El Ministro de Vivienda Pblica, Ordenacin del Territorio, Medio Ambiente e Infraestructura (VROMI), Excmo. Egbert Doran fue recibido en el espacio del proyecto del edificio de la terminal del Aeropuerto Internacional Princesa Juliana el viernes 25 de febrero de 2022 para una visita y un recorrido.

El ministro Doran coment despus de la gira: “Fue un placer para mi personal de apoyo y para m recibir una actualizacin sobre el aeropuerto. Espero con ansias la fecha programada de diciembre de 2022 cuando la nueva rea de salida de la terminal estar en funciones”.

Al comienzo de la gira, el Ministro y su squito recibieron una breve capacitacin de induccin del Oficial de Salud y Seguridad en el lugar del Contratista.

Esta capacitacin es necesaria para todas las personas que visiten el lugar para asegurarse de que estn al tanto de los peligros, las preocupaciones de seguridad, las reglas y los procedimientos de emergencia para el lugar de construccin.

El recorrido llev al ministro al piso de arriba, al nivel 1, donde se estaba retirando la capa superior de losetas para preparar el nuevo piso de terrazo.

Desde este nivel, el ministro obtuvo una vista area de la planta baja donde se instalar el rea principal de facturacin con el nuevo quiosco, autoservicio de entrega de equipaje.

Durante el recorrido, el ministro fue actualizado sobre el avance de las obras desde que Ballast-Nedam, el contratista general del proyecto de reconstruccin, se hizo cargo del proyecto en octubre de 2021.

Algunos de estos avances incluyeron la movilizacin de su personal clave, la realizacin de encuestas cero para verificar el alcance del trabajo, la instalacin de las oficinas del espacio y la contratacin de trabajadores y subcontratistas locales.

El contratista tambin pudo completar varios trabajos de desmantelamiento en los niveles 1 y 2, incluyendo la eliminacin de los baos, varias tuberas, pisos y accesorios que sern reemplazados.

El recorrido estuvo a cargo de Mirto Breell, Director de la Unidad de Gestin de Proyectos (PMU), que es el departamento del aeropuerto encargado de la reconstruccin de la terminal del edificio que result seriamente daada durante los huracanes Irma y Mara.

Island Gems Supports Awf Spay/Neuter Campaign

POINTE BLANCHE, Sint Maarten —A few more dogs and cats have been sterilized thanks to support given to Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) by Island Gems Charity Foundation.

As Island Gems does not give funds to any group, a total of US $750 was paid for the sterilization operations by the vet. These funds will supplement AWFs ongoing spay/neuter campaign aimed at curtailing the stray and unwanted dog and cat population on the island.

Justice Facility Demolition Commences With Symbolic Ceremony

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) The Minister of Public Housing, Environment, Spatial Planning, and Infrastructure (Ministry of VROMI) Hon. Egbert Doran, accompanied by the Minister of Justice Hon. Anna Richardson, hosted a symbolic demolition ceremony on March 2, 2022, to inaugurate the demolition of the designated justice building, which was tendered in the second quarter of 2021.

The former Soremar Building in Cole Bay sustained severe damage post Hurricane Irma in 2017, particularly dilapidating the roof structure, adding to previous deterioration sustained over time.

The demolition of the building is scheduled to conclude by the end of April 2022, allowing for subsequent construction of a designated Justice facility.

All recyclable material garnered from the demolition will be reused by the Ministry of Justice and VROMI to upgrade other existing facilities.

Safety and traffic signs will be erected to guide and warn commuters of the potential construction implications during the execution of the project.

The Ministry of VROMI urges the general public to observe any general safety measures when in the vicinity of the project during the demolition phase and exercise all necessary precautions including but not limited to commuting or parking.

The contractor involved in the demolition are Caribbean General Contractors (CGC).
