Coci Attends Caricham Brics+ Conference 2020 In Suriname

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten Representatives from the St. Maarten Chamber of Commerce & Industry (COCI) recently returned from attending the Caribbean Chambers of Commerce (CARICHAM)-BRICS+ Conference 2020 which took place in Suriname. Coordination for the conference was taken care by the Suriname Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The BRICS+ refers to the countries of Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa.  

On the first day of the two-day conference, there were two presentations.  The first one was themed: Access to Finance and Opportunities for CARICHAM Members.  Presentations were given by representatives from the Inter-American Development Bank, the World Bank, the Islamic Development Bank, the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry, and the Caribbean Development Bank.

The second presentation was themed: Strengthen Business Relationship between CARICHAM and the BRICS+ countries.  Presentations were given by representatives of the BRICS as well as Indonesia with emphasis placed on doing business with the aforementioned countries.

Carty supersedes Sharon Holder who worked at USZV for years. While Jennifer Carty contacted SMN News and denied the appointment saying her sister is working for her, sources within USZV says that the new marketing and communication director will not be working within the walls of USZV.
With the appointment that was allegedly made, it behooves the Minister of VSA and the Council of Ministers to question the alleged appointment is a blatant conflict of interest and nepotism since appointing his daughter to a high-ranking position should not be allowed, besides that, the COM and the Minister of VSA should also question how much money Carty is spending at his family's radio stations where he owns shares on advertising while other local media are being sidelined.

Port St. Maarten Working To Further Enhance Procedural Details In Protocols After Aidadiva Experience

PORT ST. MAARTEN The cruise vessel AIDAdiva of AIDA Cruises was scheduled to berth and disembark its passengers at Port St. Maarten on Thursday, however, due to protocol infringements, the vessel was not allowed to do so. The Government of Sint Maarten did grant permission for the vessel to replenish its fuel supplies and the vessel departed for its next port of call.

A decision was taken by Prime Minister and Chairlady of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Silveria Jacobs on Wednesday night to deny the vessels request to make its scheduled port call due to the lack of proper procedures being followed during the past 24-hours based on existing protocols related to maritime health declarations.

AIDAdivas maritime health declaration as submitted did not indicate the presence of any infectious disease on board of the ship.
