Updated Information On The Reopening Of School.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport is currently still on target for the reopening of schools. The soft opening of school is set for September 28th, 2017. The soft opening will consists of students assessing their school materials, and speaking with their teachers, peers and guidance counselors. The official start date will be October 2nd, 2017.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Government of Sint Maarten together with the French Side authorities has decided to adjust the curfew from 9:00 PM till 6:00 AM as of today, Monday September 25th. The new curfew hours will be in effect until Monday October 2nd 2017.

The joint decision was taken during a meeting on cross-border cooperation on Monday afternoon. In attendance was President of the Collectivitie Daniel Gibbs, Prefet Anne Laubies, His Excellency Governor Eugene Holiday, Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman and Minister of Tourism Melissa Arrindell Doncher.

POND ISLAND:--- TelEm Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Mr. Kendall Dupersoy, and Chief Technical Officer (CTO) Mr. Eldert Louisa, have praised the dedicated work of company personnel who came out hours after the passage of Hurricane Irma, on September 6th, to render assistance to customers and the general public of St. Maarten.
According to the two top officials, Technical staff was out within hours of the passage of the storm to assess damage and begin salvaging whatever equipment they could.
The earliest assessment was relayed by the CEO to the Government via the Emergency Operations Center and also to the general public via a radio announcement soon after the passing of Hurricane Irma.

PHILIPSBURG:--- On Sunday morning, the Prime Minister of Dominica, the Honorable Roosevelt Skerrit paid a brief courtesy visit to the Prime Minister of Sint Maarten, the Honorable William Marlin.
