Mp Lake Sets Record Straight With The Situation On Genip Road

Saturday, Member of Parliament (MP) Maurice Lake, who is also a resident of St. Peters, came back from Holland attending the IPKO meetings and as my brother picks me up from the airport, I read in the front page of the Daily Herald’s newspaper about the garbage situation at Genip Road St. Peters. I decided to go directly to Genip Road straight from the airport to speak to the residents about the situation. As I spoke to the residents, it was about cutting down of an aki tree which grows in the trench on Genip Road, obstructing a resident drive way in which the person who planted the tree was very upset that VROMI instructed the local cleaning company in the area to cut down the tree which was full of aki fruit. The person stated he didn’t mind if they would have trimmed the tree or let the aki ripe first and then trim the tree. That’s the main reason they blocked the road with garbage debris and not what the newspaper had reported about this being an uncollected garbage issue.  This is far from the truth, and I call on the Herald to print a correction. Reporting the facts and right news and communicating with the residents before printing it in the newspaper should be the process to follow.  Giving the impression that this was an uncollected garbage issue in the district makes the waste haulage company look bad, and this doesn’t have anything to do with the garbage collection company Read more

Say It Loud! Racism In The Dutch Kingdom Is Unacceptable.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Earlier this week we read that a young man of 21 years was gunned down in the city of Schiedam in the Netherlands. The fact that he was dark complexioned, and ethno-racial profiling among Dutch police officers in the Netherlands is condoned as an unfortunate security measure. It have caused many activists throughout the Kingdom of the Netherlands to argue that this is one of the outcomes of a situation where, it has become politically suspect to say that racism within the Dutch Kingdom is unacceptable!
In this contribution, we seek to say the new politically suspect as loud as possible: Dutch racism is unacceptable! “Sticks and stones may break our bones, but words can never hurt us.” Whoever wholeheartedly believes that this saying holds all the time, and in every occasion, is either lying to themselves or not part of the human species Read more

Dispute Regulation’S Legal Format Still Under Discussion

THE HAGUE--Deliberations of the four Parliaments on Thursday to arrive at a common proposition for the Kingdom Law to establish a Dispute Regulation (“geschillenregeling”) for the Kingdom didn’t yield concrete results, other than the fact that parties decided to further explore the options, with the possibility of appointing the Council of State as the body to handle disputes.

Much to the chagrin of the Dutch Caribbean Parliamentary delegations, the Dutch delegation didn’t feel compelled to indicate during the Inter-Parliamentary Consultation for the Kingdom IPKO where it stood on the two law proposals that are now on the table for a Dispute Regulation ahead of the actual handling in the Second and First Chambers.

Establishing a position of the IPKO at this point was important, said Chairperson of the St Read more

PHILIPSBURG/MARIGOT-The 10th anniversary of the St. Martin Believers Connection Convention has been hailed a success with the largest gathering of supportive Christian churches and organizations' participation ever.
The annual conference was held under the theme "Let the Fire Blaze in Our Jerusalem” at the Kingdom Complex of the Christian Fellowship Church in Colebay. It was symbolic of a jubilee celebration with both sides of the island coming together for a panoramic display of talent in dance, drama, singing and even miming, all with the goal of praise and worship to God.
Over the course of the 6 day event, attendees heard from international speakers who delivered congratulatory remarks and solidarity messages.
But it was the empowering and anointed preaching of an impressive panel of local speakers that resounded.
Apostle Mulrose Toulon of Tehillah Ministries, Pastor Nolan Nanton of the New Testament Baptist Church and Pastor Jerome Thomas of Christian Assembly Ministries spoke directly to the theme of personal spiritual development and then progressively to community development and nation building Read more
