Month Of Activities To Honor Teachers

PHILIPSBURG – Education Minister Silveria Jacobs has announced plans and initiatives to commemorate World Teachers Day all month long in October.

The theme this year is: “Valuing teachers, improving their status.” The Minister, speaking at the Council of Ministers weekly press briefing, acknowledged that Teachers Day falls during the mid-term break, but teachers will still get their due respect during the month.

“Even though World Teachers Appreciation Day will be celebrated during our school vacation, the rest of the month will be dedicated to making our teachers feel even special,” the Minister said.

Police Re-Arrest Venezuelan Woman, Charges Are Unknown

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — A. del Carmen has told 721news that on October 1, her friend Diaz- Fortich came to St. Maarten on vacation.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Management of USZV was caught with their pants down by SMN News when several patients alerted SMN News that a particular staff of USZV who went to Curacao for medical check-ups and at the same time spend the mid-term vacation with her minor child in Curacao was staying at the Renaissance Resort in Curacao where the daily rates are over $200.00 per day. Not only that the USZV staff is staying in a high-class hotel while on medical referral the woman also has her minor daughter staying with her.

SINT MAARTEN/ANGUILLA – A cross-section of teenagers from three of the smallest parts (St. Maarten/St. Martin, Anguilla) and some of the biggest parts of the European Union (EU) (the Netherlands, France and United Kingdom) will meet Wednesday, October 5, for the annual St. Maarten AIDS Foundation Youth Consultation 2016 in Anguilla’s Teachers Resource Centre.

This year’s consultation, in collaboration with Anguilla Community Action Network (ACAN) and French side’s Cite Scolaire Robert Weinum, will focus on four topics teenagers have indicated as major sexual reproductive issues, which create societal challenges: Teenage pregnancies and the consequences; Taboos associated with teens being sexually active including how to talk to parents about sexual reproductive health issues; Gender identity and hearing from someone living with HIV.

Uts Donates To Seniors Tour

PHILIPSBURG – UTS made a monetary donation to the tune of NAf. 3,000 on the occasion of International Senior Citizens Day.

The donation was made to the Helping Hands Foundation. The company’s contribution will cover all expenses related to the upcoming seniors island tour and luncheon that the foundation has planned. The donation was made to mark the occasion of International Senior Citizens Day, which is October 1.
