Covid-19 Has Now Risen To 129 Confirmed

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten As of August 12th, at 16:00, St. Maarten has confirmed twenty-nine new cases of persons who have tested positive for the Corona Virus (COVID-19). The new total of confirmed cases now stand at 248.

Of the active cases, the Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring 94 people in home isolation. 129 Confirmed Covid-19 Cases, 5 Hospitalized.

PHILIPSBURG:--- St. Maarten registered 29 news cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, August 12th. The number of active cases today Wednesday, August 12th has risen to 129, 5 of which are hospitalized.
The number of active coronavirus cases on St. Maarten is rising rapidly, the government has said that they identified a number of clusters in bars, nightclubs, cigar lounges, and casinos but so far these establishments are still allowed to remain open until midnight.

In the meantime, there are 41 active cases on Saint Martin, one person hospitalized while 41 persons are confined at home.

Continuation Urgent Plenary Public Session Of Parliament About The Lack Of Implementation Of The Various Approved Programs And Projects Of The Trust Fund.

Government Departments Affected By Second Wave Of Covid-19 As Numbers Increase.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Several Government offices and services are being affected by the second wave of the COVOD-19 outbreak on St. Maarten. The Department of Immigration and Border Controls closed their doors because an immigration officer tested positive for the COVID-19, due to contact tracing four other persons working at the department are now under quarantine.
The St. Maarten Tourist Bureau also had to close its doors as someone in high standing also tested positive. SMN News understands that all employees of the Tourist Bureau were sent to be tested while the office is now closed.
