Covid-19 Has Now Risen To 49 Confirmed

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten As of July 30th, at 17:00, St. Maarten has confirmed two additional cases of persons who have tested positive for the Corona Virus (COVID-19). The new total of confirmed cases now stand at 128.

Of the active cases, the Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring 48 people in home isolation. Minister of Public Health Social Development and Labour (VSA) the honorable Richard Panneflek announced that we now have forty-nine (49), active cases of persons who have contracted COVID-19.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Member of Parliament from the UP faction Sidharth Cookie Bijlani announced on Thursday through a post on his Facebook that he was also tested positive for the COVID-19. Earlier this week MP Bijlani announced that his son tested positive while he tested negative he said on Friday, July 24th when he tested it was negative but by Monday, July 27th he began experiencing symptoms and tested again and was informed today Thursday, July 30th that he is COVID-19 positive. Bijlani is the second MP in the last two days that announced their results.
On Wednesday PFP Member of Parliament, Raeyhon Peterson made the announcement on Facebook.
It should be noted that Peterson and the son of Bijlani visited the Lotus Night Club in Simpson Bay where they were infected with the virus.

PHILIPSBURG:---The Ministry of Health recently launched a website to streamline the process for visitors coming to St. Maarten to submit a mandatory health authorization application.
"Travelers to St. Maarten must submit a health authorization request via www.stmaartenentry.com before being granted entry into St. Maarten," confirmed Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor, the Honorable Richard Panneflek on Thursday.

PHILIPSBURG--Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine, which became Tropical Storm Isaias late last night, flooded several streets and blew down fences, road signs and tree branches on a wet and windy Wednesday. Despite this minor damage, the country came through the weather system relatively unscathed.

In anticipation of heavy rains and winds blowing to tropical storm force, Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs activated the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Tuesday and the country was placed under a tropical storm warning as the system was expected to develop into a tropical storm.

Tropical Storm Warning Discontinued. Thursday Regular Business Day.

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM:---  The Tropical Storm Warning has been discontinued as of 5.00 AM. Today, Thursday is a regular business day for the private sector.

Government services will also resume as normal and the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sports Rodolphe Samuel, stated on Thursday that the scheduled examinations will continue.

Prime Minister and Chair of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Silveria Jacobs said early Thursday morning that the weather system which passed Sint Maarten on Wednesday has been upgraded to Tropical Storm Isaias but poses no immediate threat to the island, however the population should continue to monitor and remain vigilant while going about your day as rainfall is expected.

At 5.00AM the storm was located more than 300 miles west southwest of Sint Maarten and continues to move further away.

PHILIPSBURG As of July 29th, at 4:00 PM, St. Maarten has confirmed two new cases of persons who have tested positive for the Corona Virus (COVID-19). The new total of confirmed cases now stands at 126.

Of the active cases, the Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring 46 people in home isolation. Minister of Public Health Social Development and Labour (VSA) the honorable Richard Panneflek has stated we now have forty-seven (47), active cases of persons who have contracted COVID-19.
The one patient who was hospitalized has since been released and is isolated and being monitored at home.
