Council Of Ministers Approved Proposal For 1Cent From Gasoline Towards Sports.

PHILIPSBURG:---Minister of Education youth and sports Rodolphe Samuel announced on Wednesday that the Council of Ministers has approved his proposal to allocate one cent per liter of gasoline and diesel to the benefit of sports has been approved by the Council of Ministers.
The Minister of ECYS said that he has requested funding via the capital expenditure budget of the country for repairs to sports facilities, but because of a deficit budget, this has become very challenging.
He said he was informed that repairs to the facilities will take place via the NRPB, Trust fund, but this too will take some time before it happens.

PHILIPSBURG(DCOMM):---  On Wednesday afternoon, Prime Minister Hon. Silveria Jacobs chaired her first preparedness meeting involving 10 Emergency Support Functions (ESFs) that make up the countrys national disaster coordination system.

Department Head of the Meteorological Department of Sint Maarten (MDS) briefed the Prime Minister and ESF coordinators with respect to the forecast for the 2022 Atlantic hurricane season.

Thereafter, each ESF coordinator presented an overview of their state of national preparedness for the season.

PHILIPSBURG:--- On Wednesday, May 25, 2022, a live drill was held at the A.C. Wathey Cruise Facilities involving several government entities.
During this exercise, a live scenario was played out in which a vessel transporting illegal drugs was stopped by the coast guard and taken to shore for inspection. Later in the scenario, the vessel caught fire and several members of the crew sustained injuries.

During the drill, the police, fire department, ambulance, coastguard, and other partners had to perform their tasks within the scenario.
