ST. EUSTATIUS--A number of educators in St. Eustatius were honoured for their work in moulding the minds of students at the Second Annual Teachers Awards Gala held on Saturday, November 28.

  Foundation for Reinforcing Education and Performing Arts and Culture (FFREALC) honoured senior retired teachers Laine Spanner, Lydia Richardson and Vera Simmons for being foundation builders in education and for contributing immensely to education in Statia.

Disaster Coordinator and Fire Commander Clive Richardson, and on behalf of Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, chairlady of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), is thankful that the nation has been spared the full onslaught of a major hurricane for the record-breaking 2020 season which saw 30 named storms, of which 13 became hurricanes, including six (6) major hurricanes with winds of 111 miles per hour or greater.

An average season has 12 named storms; six hurricanes; and three major hurricanes.

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) The record-breaking 2020 Atlantic hurricane season comes to an official end on Monday, November 30with 30-named stormsunder its belt.

Disaster Coordinator and Fire Commander Clive Richardson, and on behalf of Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs, chairlady of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), is thankful that the nation has been spared the full onslaught of a major hurricane for the record-breaking 2020 season which saw 30 named storms, of which 13 became hurricanes, including six (6) major hurricanes with winds of 111 miles per hour or greater.

An average season has 12 named storms; sixhurricanes; and three major hurricanes.

The 2020 Atlantic season got off to an early start with nine named storms from May 16 with the first named storm Arthur followed by another eight through July.  There were 10-named storms that formed in Septemberalone, the most for any month on record.

My wife and I were prosecuted for over 10 years by the Sint Maarten Public Prosecutors Office in the so-called BUMO case. During all this time and even despite the fact that the reporter Mr. Hilbert Haar chief editor of back the Today Newspaper wrote and published in excess of 50 very negative and factually largely incorrect articles about my wife and I, we never went public. This decision was based on a firm belief that legal cases are fought in court and not in the public media. Our decision was also based on respect for and trust in the Sint Maarten court system.
