PHILIPSBURG:--- The Minister of Labor Emil Lee confirmed on Wednesday that he has been getting complaints about the OPCs that are mostly residents of the French side that are operating throughout the Dutch side illegally. The Minister said that these persons have been harassing the island’s visitors and the workers of his department are not responsible for arresting people that are working illegally on the island, that he said falls under the Justice Ministry.

Finance Minister Will Be Meeting With Curacao Finance Minister To Discuss St. Maarten’S Shares On The Division Assets.

Dutch Government did not live up to its promise to send Curacao Minister of Finance a letter on the Division of Assets.

Former Vdsm Head Is Released, Still A Suspect

PHILIPSBURG--Former head of St. Maarten National Security Service VDSM J.A.J.R. (41), suspected of embezzlement and money-laundering, has been released from pre-trial detention, the Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed. He is still a suspect in the open investigation and is required to cooperate with the Prosecutor’s Office.

St. Maarten Youth Brigade Trek Camp 2016

~Trekking through the SSS islands~

SINT MAARTEN РThe St. Maarten Youth Brigade completed an 8-day walking camp with its brother Brigade organization Cura̤ao Jeugd Brigade (CJB). The Trek Camp commenced on July 4, and ended on July 11. The combined Brigade Tour started at Kim Sha Beach for the first 2 nights and on the second day, all members hiked across to the French side area of Grand Cayes. On the final days of the camp, the hike took them on an adventurous walk from Hillside Adventures in South Reward, to Loterie Farm on the French side of Pic Paradis under the guidance of Joslyn Richardson.

PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad – Calls for Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley and the Government to “come clean” with the nation on his health condition have mounted, following Rowley’s recent hint that there appear to be some “changes” in his health issues which both his local and foreign doctors feel should be “investigated further.”

Politicians and analysts say his health cannot be his personal business when he’s a public figure and the country’s leader. Three weeks ago, Rowley announced he would do a medical check during a two-week vacation he was taking.

POND ISLAND - On August 8th 2016, the representatives to the Central Voting Bureau of nine (9) political parties have submitted the list of candidates of their respective political parties. As per article 23, paragraph 1 Electoral Ordinance, the lists would need to be endorsed on August 9th 2016, between 09.00hrs and 16.00hrs with an amount of signatures equal to 1% of the valid votes casted during the last Parliamentary Election.

The requisite amount of signature is 146. Those parties that have obtained 1 or more seats during the previous Parliamentary Election are exempted from being endorsed, as per paragraph 4 of the aforementioned article.
