CAY HILL: St. Maarten Medical Center (SMMC), Social and Health Insurances SZV, and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth, and Sports recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding granting SMMC temporary usage rights for a parcel of land at the Raoul Illidge Sports Complex. The parcel of land will be used for parking by SMMC for the duration of the construction of the St. Maarten General Hospital (SMGH).

Department Of Economic Licenses Held An Informative Session At Philipsburg Police Station

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Representatives of the department of Economic Licenses held an informative session with the Community Police Officers and young cadets of the Sint Maarten Police force on Friday January 31, 2020.

The session was relates to licensing policies and procedures, opening hours regulations and dealing with infractions encountered within the business community and within public transportation.
The departments vowed to explore avenues towards achieving closer cooperation between the KPSM and the Ministry of TEATT, to operate more effectively and efficiently in carrying out their parallel tasks.

Fifteen Members Of Parliament Took Oath/Rolando Brison Elected Chairman Of Parliament

HARBOR VIEW, Sint Maarten – The 15 persons elected to the parliament of Sint Maarten during the parliamentary elections on January 9th, are now official Members of Parliament. They were sworn in by the Governor, His Excellency drs. Eugene B. Holiday during a ceremony held at the Governors Office in Harbor View Monday morning.

PHILIPSBURG: --- The Council of Ministers have decided to grant the management team of GEBE another 6-month contract for them to finalize a loan with Windward Islands Bank (WIB). SMN News learned the GEBE management has been in discussion with the local bank for a 48M USD loan, sources say the bank asked that there be some stability with GEBE management since they began discussions with the current management team for the loan for the utility company and the bank wants to continue and finalize the discussions with the same team since they are the ones working with the bank Terms of Reference for the loan.
