MARIGOT:--- The health situation on the island of Saint-Martin remains worrisome with 117 active cases and 21 people in the hospital, including 18 at Louis Constant Fleming hospital. The levels of incidence rates (number of positive people per 100 inhabitants per week) and positivity (number of positive people vs the number of tests carried out) remain above the alert thresholds.

Faced with this data, the prefecture of Saint-Barthlemy and Saint-Martin has decided to establish by order the wearing of a mandatory mask from 7 am to 2 pm in areas frequented by an important audience, especially the flows drinks, the surroundings of schools and shops, for a month from Friday, September 18th.

Offenders are fined 135 Euros.

Lifting Border Checks In Bellevue And Quartier D ' Orlans.

MARIGOT:--- The Prefecture and ARS responded to the request for a hearing from the organizers of today's demonstration.
The ARS reviewed the current health difficulties in Saint-Martin, the number of cases, worrying indicators, particularly in terms of almost saturated hospital capacity (18 out of 23 beds occupied in the COVID unit and an additional death yesterday at Louis Constant Fleming hospital and 100 % CPR occupancy rate at Guadeloupe CHU).
Members of the Collective have not heard these arguments but have committed to contributing to the implementation of popular health education in the neighborhoods (wearing masks, gathering of people, social distancing...).
While it is proven that the regulation of population flows between the two parts of the island has contributed to a significant reduction in the circulation of the virus, the risk of disturbances to public order during a period of a health crisis is not acceptable or for the population, neither for law enforcement agencies, which have been heavily demanded for months.
As a result, and as announced in the press conference on Monday, the Prefecture of Guadeloupe is studying the limitation of air flows to Grand Case which is expected to take place in the coming days (reduced flight number and conditioning of journeys on imperative grounds) ..
In view of the risks of disturbances to public order, the Prefecture decides to lift border checks Read more

The Hidden Skeleton Behind The Border Controls On St. Martin.

~ USZVs role in nonpayment of healthcare services on French territories. ~

MARIGOT/ PHILIPSBURG:--- Over the past week several persons including politicians from both sides of the island have been expressing their concerns over the border controls that began last week Friday by the Gendarmes and the Police aux Frontiers. While most of us do not agree with the interruption of the free movement of people on St. Maarten/ St. Martin since there are families that are disrupted on both sides, the skeleton must now surface so everyone gets a better understanding.
The free movement of people has been regulated in the Treaty of Concordia which was signed way back in 1648 to be exact on March 23rd 1648.
However, there are some key elements that must be highlighted so that the real truth behind the border controls are brought forward and hopefully by then the French side politicians and business people that have been complaining and organizing protests will truly begin to look further to understand the threat to their healthcare system.
Over the past years, St Read more
