Off Duty Drunken Gendarme Caused Accident At Mont Valois.

MARIGOT:--- An off-duty gendarmerie got into an accident on Mont Valois Hill around 7pm Sunday evening damaging at least four vehicles.
SMN News learned that the gendarme who is very experienced, is on vacation and he was probably partying and drinking. According to information provided to SMN News by well-placed sources, the gendarme lost control of his vehicle while descending Mont Valois Hill, thereby hitting one vehicle which in turn hit three other vehicles causing some serious damages.
The gendarme is currently hospitalized at the Louis Constant Fleming Hospital in stable condition while an investigation has been opened.

Calypsonians Informed: Deadline To Submit Music Sheets Is December 1St.

PHILIPSBURG:--- RAW Promotions Foundation, the entity charged with organizing the 2017 NAGICO Calypso competition, met with the 23 calypsonians who signed up to participate in the 2017 NAGICO Calypso competition on Friday evening, October 14th,in the A. C. Wathey Legislative hall, where the Calypsonians were informed of the developments of the competition.
Important to note is that the deadline for the Calypsonians to have their music sheets delivered to the accompanying band is Thursday, December 1st, 2016.
The band that will accompany the calypsonians in the 2017 NAGICO calypso competition is "D Orchestra" under the directions of Neville "Fatts" James.
In order to begin rehearsals in early January 2017 the band must be in possession of the music sheets of all calypsonians, with the exception of Shakira, the 2016 Monarch, who will not be participating in the eliminations Read more

PHILIPSBURG:--- Fifteen volunteers from the St. Maarten Tzu Chi Foundation, aged five to 65, braved the hot sun and dedicated a portion of their day on Saturday, October 15, to help transport more than 60 tables and chairs from Tzu Chi's former pilot humanitarian school to All Children’s Education (ACE) Foundation's new location in Cole Bay.

PHILIPSBURG:--- 23 Calypsonians have met the September 9th, 2016 deadline to register to for the 2017 NAGICO Calypso competition.
RAW Promotions Foundation, the entity charged with organizing the 2017 NAGICO Calypso Competition, is proud to announce that several newcomers and some who have been away from the Calypso stage are coming back, while many familiar faces will be competing in the upcoming competition next year.
King Repeater, The Mighty Carlix, King T-Mo, Mighty Dando, The Mighty Magic and Ricky The Phox are back after, in some cases, a lengthy absent from competition.
Sheera, Doctor Ray and Lady Righteous are new to the Calypso arena, and will have to contend with veterans such as Fish The Mega Boss, Chipman, The Mighty Pepper, Kaiso Brat, King Beau Beau and Young Carlix The Protege, just to name a few.
