St Vincent Pm Warns Caricom Of Plot Against Venezuela

KINGSTON, St. Vincent – Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has cautioned the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) to refrain from allowing a small group of powerful nations to dilute the “collective strength” of the 15 member regional grouping.

Gonsalves, in a three-page letter to CARICOM leaders, warned that a wedge is being driven through CARICOM over a plan for “regime change” in Venezuela and the group of powerful nations with the Organisation of America States (OAS) has an “agenda of naked self-interest”.

Memorial Day: A Day To Appreciate Our Freedom

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – On Thursday May 4, the Government of Sint Maarten observed Memorial Day, (“Dodenherdenkingsdag”) similar to the other countries within the Dutch Kingdom, at the Captain Hodge Wharf in Philipsburg.

“During this National Commemoration Day” all Dutch victims – civilians and soldiers – who have been killed or murdered in the Kingdom of the Netherlands or anywhere else in the world in war situations or during peace-keeping operations since the outbreak of the Second World War,” were commemorated (www.4en5mei.nl).

Every year, 3 May is a date which celebrates the fundamental principles of press freedom; to evaluate press freedom around the world, to defend the media from attacks on their independence and to pay tribute to journalists who have lost their lives in the exercise of their profession.

UNESCO, the Government of Indonesia, and the Press Council of Indonesia will co-organize the World Press Freedom Day's main event and the UNESCO/Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize Ceremony in Jakarta, Indonesia, from 1-4 May 2017.
