Supermarket Robber Arrested In St. Martin

PHILIPSBURG/MARIGOT--Star Ocean Supermarket in Dutch Quarter and Wing Li Supermarket in Middle Region were robbed on Wednesday afternoon by a man brandishing a firearm. In both cases the culprit fled on a scooter after the robbery, according to acting police spokesman Inspector Steven Carty.

Man Dies In Road Accident

SUCKER GARDEN--One man is dead after a freak accident on Sucker Garden Road on Wednesday morning close to 2:00am. The driver was heading to Oyster Pond Road when he lost control of his Suzuki Vitara and flipped over on the side of the street. The man died moments after the incident and was identified as a French side resident known as “Carlos”. Emergency personnel rushed to the scene and cut out the driver with the Jaws of Life. Foul Play Ruled Out In Case Of Body Floating In Lagoon

PHILIPSBURG--Foul play has been ruled out as the cause of death of the man, whose body was found floating in the Simpson Bay Lagoon on Sunday, December 11, around 9:30am.

The body of the man - a British national named Russell Frank Hodgson, born on November 30, 1945 - was found in the Simpson Bay Lagoon near Pink Iguana Restaurant on the Airport Boulevard. The lifeless body of the man was pulled out of the lagoon with the assistance of the Coast Guard.

Attempted Robbery At Prime Distributers

Prime Distributors on Thursday.

COLE BAY--A group of men attempted to rob Prime Distributors in Cole Bay on Thursday just after 4:00pm. Acting police spokesman Inspector Steven Carty stated that patrols were dispatched to Prime Distributors for the robbery in progress.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Ambulance and police rushed to Gladiola Road Mary’s Fancy on Thursday afternoon when a construction worker fell and died on the spot. Even though police and ambulance personnel was on the scene, interim police spokesman Steven Carty said he was not aware of the incident.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Moments ago some four armed gunmen wearing helmets stormed into Jewelry Avenue Store on the Boardwalk and committed an armed robbery. In the surrounding area, the shattering of the glass cases could be heard from a distance. The culprits it is understood wore helmets as their masks. At least two persons were injured in the head as the armed bandits hit the victims in the head. Ambulance personnel were on the scene treating the injured victims while police are busy combing the area to capture the other two suspects that were also involved in the broad daylight armed robbery.
