PHILIPSBURG:--- The fourth phase of the Backstreet repairs will commence on June 14th, 2017. The fourth phase starts from Kortesteeg to Weduwensteeg and completion will take approximately two weeks depending on the weather and how many persons request connection to the sewage line.

Asphalt will be poured until Weduwensteeg. After that point, the road will be leveled by the repairing of sections of bricks until the end of Backstreet. Subsequently, road markings will be painted, the curbs will be painted black and white and the bus stops will be painted yellow Read more

South Reward:--- The Arrowroot Road sewage project has been finalized for the residence in the area of South Reward. ADS pipes were installed on the Cucumber road, Carrot Road, Arrowroot Road, Pear Road and Arrowroot drive with 19 sewage pits. A drainage line was also installed to collect the natural water which frequently flows on the Arrowroot Road. The connections all lead to a drain box which continues to the existing trench on L.B. PHILIPSBURG:--- Chairman of GEBE Supervisory Board Roy Marlin dispatched an email to the Management Board around 5:30 am on June 2nd requesting that the managing board take a decision on rehiring Steve Duzanzon whom he stated in his email have been trying to get re-employed by the company for 8 to 9 months now. Marlin in his email to the management board states that he is aware that the Minister of VROMI Christopher Emmanuel is against the re-hiring of Duzanzon but he wants to remind the managing board that is not the Minister’s prerogative but that of the management board.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The tenants living in the Belvedere area under deplorable conditions got another surprise earlier this week when they received a letter from the foundation informing them that they are not allowed to have pets. But management of the SMHDF along with the Supervisory Board is yet to tell the tenants and homeowners when their homes will be repaired. At least four homeowners who bought their homes from SMHDF got homes with defects, yet these homes pass the inspection that was conducted by the department of VROMI.
SMN News learned that just recently SMHDF sold two other homes and at least one of the homeowners already reported that the walls of his new home is cracking just like the others.

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten –  The second phase of Backstreet repairs began on Monday May 8, 2017 which commenced at the Zoutsteeg and will end at the intersection near Angelo’s boutique.

Completion of the second stage will take approximately two weeks depending on how many persons request connection to the sewage line and the weather.

Exclusive:-- Belvedere Residents Suffers While Minister Of Vromi Falls Asleep

Is there mass corruption at St. Maarten Housing Development Foundation? Where is the foundation money and how an employee gets a home over other residents?

PHILIPSBURG:--- Residents of Belvedere housing project that is managed by the St. Maarten Housing Development Foundation (SMHDF) have to run for shelter during this rainy season while the Minister of VROMI Christopher Emmanuel falls asleep after requesting the government appointed board members to resign and they blatantly refused, even though they are civil servants.
Several of the residents that contacted SMN News states that the management of SMHDF refused to meet with them, one of which is an 89-year old homeowner even though their homes are in deplorable conditions, they said there are water leakage, mold, electrical problems and other very dangerous situations at the homes in Belvedere but the Director Helen Solomon and even the board members refused to meet with them to find solutions to their living conditions.
While the management of SMHDF is running from their responsibilities and the board believes their appointment are lifetime, SMN News learned that there is gross mismanagement of the foundation and monies have disappeared, documents are being shredded, certain employees managed to get promotion and at least one employee also obtained a home before the hundreds of persons that are on the list for years now waiting for a home.
