PHILIPSBURG:--- The Government of Sint Maarten together with the French Side authorities has decided to adjust the curfew from 9:00 PM till 6:00 AM as of today, Monday September 25th. The new curfew hours will be in effect until Monday October 2nd 2017.

The joint decision was taken during a meeting on cross-border cooperation on Monday afternoon. In attendance was President of the Collectivitie Daniel Gibbs, Prefet Anne Laubies, His Excellency Governor Eugene Holiday, Minister of Justice Rafael Boasman and Minister of Tourism Melissa Arrindell Doncher.

PRESIDENT'S PROHIBITION OF MOVEMENT AND ROAD TRAFFIC

The President of the Collectivité of Saint-Martin informs you that the road from Sandy Ground (from the bridge to the MJC) will be closed to traffic on Thursday, September 14, 2017 and Friday, September 15, 2017, from 9 am to 4 pm to allow cleaning trucks and vehicles to finish removing bulky items on the Sandy Ground area.
A second decree of road-closing will be taken for the St James area from the Bellevue roundabout to the “Doigt de gant” on Saturday, September 16th, 2017 and on Sunday, September 17th, 2017 from 9 am to 4 pm to facilitate cleaning in this downtown area.
A third interdiction will be taken for the Low-Town area in Marigot-St James on Monday, September 18th, 2017 and Tuesday, September 19th, 2017 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm also to facilitate cleaning in this downtown area.

Good Day Welcome To Announcements From The Of The Collectivity.

MARIGOT:--- On Tuesday, August 1st, 2017, the Collectivity will start the 3rd and final phase of the rehab works at the Jean-Louis Vanterpool stadium. During this time, the intersection of Rue de Holland and the intersection of Paul Mingau Street will be closed to vehicle traffic. The deviation will be via Rue de Concordia.
The objective is to move back the wall to widen the sidewalk for the safety of pedestrians. Work will be completed August 31, 2017, before the opening of the new school year.
The Collectivity apologizes in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
The return to the four-day school week, implemented by the Education Department and officially validated by the Executive Council on Wednesday, July 26, will be implemented as of September 2017 in the schools of Saint Martin.
School hours will now be Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 8 am to 11.30 am and from 1:30 pm to 4 pm
This return of the four-day week is accompanied by an increase in the number of extracurricular activities and supervision, in line with the commitments made by the new majority of the Collectivity.
With a contribution of 50 euros per child for the school year 2017-2018, the partnership set up with the CTOS of Saint-Martin, which has increased the training of its animators, which will guarantee students a better experience.

Marigot:---- Dignitaries that attended the Bastille Day celebration on Friday braved the rain and walked from the Catholic Church to the Collectivity of St. Martin with their umbrellas to lay wreaths at the memorial site in the garden of the Collectivity of St. Martin after which they moved to the Marigot waterfront where the official speeches were pronounced as St. Martin celebrated the annual Bastille Day and its 10th anniversary since gaining their new status.
Those that joined the French dignitaries for the annual celebration where Governor Eugene Holiday along with First Lady Marie- Louise, President of Parliament Sarah Wescot Williams and Deputy Prime Minister Rafael Boasman.
Wreaths were laid by the representatives of the veterans, President of the Collectivity Daniel Gibbes, Senator Guillaume Arnel, Deputy Claire Javois, and Sous Prefette Anne Laubies.

Memorial Day: A Day To Appreciate Our Freedom

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) – On Thursday May 4, the Government of Sint Maarten observed Memorial Day, (“Dodenherdenkingsdag”) similar to the other countries within the Dutch Kingdom, at the Captain Hodge Wharf in Philipsburg.
