Rotary Sunset Inducts Three Professionals

COLEBAY, Sint Maarten — The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset inducted three new members to the club. Joining Rotary Sunset are Ruben Pantophlet, Ishka Jose and Linaisa Mardenborough. All inductees took the oath and were sworn in by President of Rotary Sunset Norrisa Anatol during the clubs general meeting.

Ruben Pantophlet, sponsored by Rotarian Elisia Lake, is employed by the Customs Department of Sint Maarten and his classification within Rotary is Law Enforcement. Ruben Pantophlet, sponsored by Rotarian Elisia Lake, is employed by the Customs Department of Sint Maarten and hisclassification within Rotary is Law Enforcement. LinaisaMardenborough, sponsored by Rotarian Tamara Leonard, is the Managing Director of Dalia Noor B.V and her classification is Landscaping and Waste Management within Rotary. Ishka Jose, sponsored by Rotarian Elisia Lake, is employed by Marine Management and Consulting N.V and her classification within Rotary is Human Resource and Compliance.

After completing the process of a robust membership plan, all three professionals have been identified as assets to the club. From the onset, they have made themselves readily available to assist in all projects, attend workshops, events and fellowships and the members of Rotary Sunset look forward to serving humanity with them onboard. President Anatol delivered an impactful speech highlighting the importance of increasing their Rotary knowledge and being engaged to become a well-rounded Rotarian. Each new member was pinned by their sponsor at Carl N Sons Conference Room amongst members, family, and guests, who cheerfully congratulated them during the celebration. The club would like to once again congratulate Rotarians Ruben, Ishka and Linaisa and look forward to their continued lifelong commitment to the club and their community.

COLE BAY:---The Rotary Club of St. Martin Sunset welcomed three professionals as its newest members on August 23rd, 2021. Joining Rotary Sunset are Cheryl Dangleben-York, Jovanka De Randamie, and Alisha Brookes, who were officially sworn in by Rotary District 7020 Governor, Louis Wever, during the clubs general meeting.

- Cheryl York: an Administrator employed by the Parliament of Sint Maarten and sponsored by Rotarian Elisia Lake.

- Alisha Brooks: an Educator employed by NIPA and sponsored by Rotarian Stuart Johnson.

Mp Bucamper Suggests Stiffer Penalties For Convicted Sexual Abusers

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – With the surfacing of yet another case of alleged sexual abuse of minors, MP Claudius Toontje Buncamper of the USP faction in parliament expresses his concerns with the unwarranted incident.

What is frightening is that people in whom parents place their trust with their children are often the ones suspected of these crimes MP Buncamper noted. The penalty for those found guilty of such heinous crimes are often found to be too lenient to society, considering that their victim(s) is/are scarred for life. Buncamper insists that: Stiffer penalties must be applied to those convicted of rape, child abuse, making and distribution of child pornography. The possibility exists that pedophiles maybe walking around us in our midst, holding jobs that require them to interact with children. MP Buncamper says that he will support a screening method to determine if an applicant applying for a job that involves interaction with children has a record of abusing children. He disclosed that former Member of Parliament (MP) Tamara Leonard started the process to amend the laws regarding child abuse and rape Read more
