PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs announced on Thursday that the travel restrictions list via air and sea to Sint Maarten has been further updated as of March 12, 2020, to include Spain and Germany which have large COVID-19 clusters.

On Wednesday the travel restrictions list was upgraded from 14 to 21 days.

Passengers and airline crew who have been in China (Peoples Republic), Hong Kong (SAR China), Iran, Italy, Japan, Korea (Rep.), Macao (SAR China), Singapore, Spain and Germany in the past 21 days, are not allowed to transit or enter Sint Maarten.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Government of St. Maarten has taken note of the notice by French President Emmanuel Macron and by extension the Prfet of St. Martin and St. Barths Ms. Sylvie Feucher related to school closures within all French territories. This decision does not affect schools on Dutch St. Maarten.

GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten (DCOMM) The travel restrictions which were issued by the Government of Sint Maarten have now been increased from 14 to 21-days, Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs disclosed on Wednesday.

The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will be meeting on Thursday and a meeting will be held with Members of Parliament (MPs) to provide them with an update on national preparations for COVID-19.

Jacobs said the World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday declared that the coronavirus COVID-19 is now an international pandemic.  Such a declaration calls on all countries to speed up their response and containment measures and to be prepared to take any additional measures that are required to protect public health.

The Government continues to work closely with the Government of French Saint-Martin and Kingdom counterparts in order to prepare and plan to mitigate the spread.

Prime Minister Jacobs added that the business community as well as Government will have to look at ways of allowing workers to work remotely from home, especially for persons who have traveled to COVID-19 hotspots including those who are not mentioned in the countrys travel restriction lists.

Persons should self- isolate for 14-days at home; contact their family physician (GP) and provide a list of their flu-like symptoms to their GP if they develop any.  The family physician will determine if the Collective Prevention Services (CPS) should be contacted Read more

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – En un esfuerzo por evitar el aumento de precios con la prisa por ciertos productos desde el estallido del COVID-19 (coronavirus), el gobierno establecer precios mximos para varios artculos.

Se fijarn precios mximos para guantes de ltex y silicona, desinfectante de manos, mscaras N95, toallitas desinfectantes y aerosoles y alcohol para frotar (70 por ciento).

La presidenta del Centro de Operaciones de Emergencia (COE), la Primera Ministra Silveria Jacobs, dijo en relacin con el brote mundial de coronavirus, la posibilidad y el impacto esperado, y la activacin del COE, que existe la necesidad de proteger a la poblacin contra el aumento de los precios.

El Ministerio de Turismo, Asuntos Econmicos, Transporte y Telecomunicaciones (TEATT) ha realizado y completado su revisin de los precios existentes en el mercado y ha obtenido la informacin relevante para establecer los precios mximos de determinados bienes de consumo; en particular, la adicin de los nuevos elementos en relacin con el coronavirus.

A la luz de esto, el Reglamento Ministerial que establece los precios mximos de los artculos necesarios para minimizar la propagacin del coronavirus ser aprobado y establecido esta semana y entrar en vigencia de inmediato hasta nuevo aviso.

PORT ST. MAARTEN The cruise vessel AIDAdiva of AIDA Cruises was scheduled to berth and disembark its passengers at Port St. Maarten on Thursday, however, due to protocol infringements, the vessel was not allowed to do so. The Government of Sint Maarten did grant permission for the vessel to replenish its fuel supplies and the vessel departed for its next port of call.

A decision was taken by Prime Minister and Chairlady of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Silveria Jacobs on Wednesday night to deny the vessels request to make its scheduled port call due to the lack of proper procedures being followed during the past 24-hours based on existing protocols related to maritime health declarations.
