WICSU/PSU installs new board members
PHILIPSBURG--The new board of the Windward Islands Civil Servants' Union/Private Sector Union (WICSU/PSU) was installed during a well-attended ceremony at the union's office Friday evening.
In keeping with the theme of the event, which was "light," board members were given lit candles while the song "Carry your candle" was sung.
The executive board members are President Henrietta Doran-York; Secretary General Riegnald Arrindell; Treasurer Francisco Mariana and Vice President Julia Solognier.

Doran-York wants to strengthen link between WICSU, members
PHILIPSBURG--Newly elected President of the Windward Islands Civil Servants Union/Private Sector Union (WICSU/PSU) Henrietta Doran-York wants to focus on strengthening the relationship between the union and its membership.
The new board elected Friday will sit for three years. In a press release on Sunday, the new president said the union will be announcing "a special day in the week" where members and prospective members will be able to make appointments to meet with the board at the union's office on the Walter Nisbeth Road (Pondfill).

Henrietta Doran-York elected new WICSU/PSU President
PHILIPSBURG--Seasoned civil servant Henrietta Doran-York was elected as new President of Windward Islands Civil Servants Union/Private Sector Union (WICSU/PSU) on Friday.
Doran-York won with 133 votes, while the other candidate Denisio Conner secured 71 votes. Doran-York, who succeeds Dearie Leonard to take over the helm of the union, declined to comment on winning the presidency on Friday evening, saying she would issue a statement over the weekend.
Also elected to the executive board were new treasurer Francisco Mariana and new General Secretary Riegnald Arrindell, each of whom secured 140 votes.

PHILIPSBURG--Windward Islands Civil Servants Union/Private Sector Union (WICSU/PSU) members will vote for a new Executive Board during elections scheduled for this Friday, May 29, from 7:00am to 4:00pm.

The names mentioned in today's paper as the reported candidates for the various positions of the incoming NA/DP/US-party coalition inspire confidence. The screening process will have to determine whether they all qualify in the end, but for now the apparent nominees certainly sound adequate.
It was already clear that NA leader William Marlin would be the next Prime Minister in charge of General Affairs, while the party's number three candidate and top vote-getter Silveria Jacobs had been a "shoo-in" to again become Minister of Education, Culture and Sports.
Whom NA would make its Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Development and the Environment VROMI was not known, but Rodolphe Samuel with his experience as President of Parliament certainly had been among the frontrunners for the job on the party's election list Read more
