Former Vdsm Head Is Released, Still A Suspect

PHILIPSBURG--Former head of St. Maarten National Security Service VDSM J.A.J.R. (41), suspected of embezzlement and money-laundering, has been released from pre-trial detention, the Prosecutor’s Office has confirmed. He is still a suspect in the open investigation and is required to cooperate with the Prosecutor’s Office.

Debt Standard Proposed For Curaçao, St. Maarten

THE HAGUE--A debt standard with a maximum threshold should be introduced for Curaçao and St. Maarten to keep the debts of the countries manageable in case the interest rates of capital loans increase.
The Committee for Financial Supervision CFT for Curaçao and St. Maarten drafted an advice to this effect early in 2016 on the request of Dutch Minister of Home Affairs and Kingdom Relations Ronald Plasterk. The advice was mentioned in the CFT 2015 annual report which was presented in The Hague on Wednesday.

Plasterk Waits For Official Reply To Dispute Regulation Proposal

THE HAGUE-Minister of Internal and Kingdom Affairs Ronald Plasterk said he is still waiting for an official reply to his recent proposal for a Dispute Regulation (Geschillenregeling). He is aware of the objections, but mostly from stories in the newspaper and not straight from the governments.
