~ Documents going missing is a concern for parliament~
PHILIPSBURG:--- Two files containing documents from the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIAE) that were sent to the Parliament of St. Maarten some two years ago that are now missing created some confusion in the Parliament of St. Maarten.On Wednesday Member of Parliament, Christopher Emmanuel questioned why all members of parliament did not receive the documents that were sent to parliament some two years ago when UPP Faction Leader Rolando Brison was the chairman. The missing documents were raised during the past three days on the floor of Parliament. Chairlady of Parliament Grisha Heyliger Marten said that she conducted an investigation to determine what happened to the documents. Heyliger Marten said after conferring with her secretary who is currently on medical leave she was told that the documents were submitted some two years ago, and that while she could not remember exactly what she did with the two files, she told the chair that whenever she receives documents for the chair she would either placed them on the desk of the chairman or she would give him the documents in his hands. In this case, the secretary told the chairlady that she could not say exactly what she did with the now missing documents.The explanation given to Members of Parliament on Friday morning was not readily accepted, as the same sets of documents were also sent to the Council of Ministers.Members of Parliament William Marlin said that documents sent to parliament going missing is indeed a concern for the parliament of St. Maarten. Marlin said since being a Member of Parliament such an incident took place. Emmanuel said he cannot accept the explanation given because members of parliament are not foolish. Also expressing concerns is MP Raeyhon Peterson.
