>MIDDLE REGION:--- United People's (UP) party Member of Parliament
Tamara Leonard
recently discussed career choices with sixth graders of Sister Marie Laurence Primary School in Middle Region. The sixth graders will head to high school in the new school year.
Leonard, a businesswoman, spoke to the pupils about the vital careers the country needs now and in the future for it to continue to progress and grow stronger as a country. She highlighted careers St. Maarten will need should the country decide to move away from the Dutch Kingdom and become an independent country in the Caribbean.
Pupils were also given a motivational talk by Leonard, who encouraged them to stay in school, focus on achieving the highest educational standards and to choose careers that will benefit their country.
Leonard will return to the school in two weeks' time to see the career choices the pupil chose for their future. The school will hold a small career expo with displays from pupils about their career choices. Pupils are expected to also give explanations about their career choice.
