>AIRPORT:--- Stagnating the expansion and projects at the Princess Juliana International Airport has taken yet another level. This time the Council of Ministers decided on August 19th 2015 that they will instruct Domain Affairs not to issue any more long lease land and or renew long lease for any land that the Operating Company of Princess Juliana International Airport (PJAIE) has and that all land must be given to the Holding of the Government owned company.
Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs dispatched a letter to the head of Domain Affairs on August 25th 2015 instructing the department head of the decision taken by the Council of Ministers on August 19th 2015. The letter along with the decision taken by the Council of Ministers could be viewed beneath this article.
SMN News learnt that the Operating Board seems to be having some serious issues with at least two of their members that are also on the Holding Company. Those two members it is alleged are close friends of Prime Minister Marcel Gumbs and the leader of the United Peoples Party Theodore Heyliger. Sources close to PJIAE identified the two persons as Michel Hodge and Ludwig Quenniche. It should be noted that the latter has been fired from the Ministry of Finance some months ago.
SMN News learnt that the other members of the Operating Company are upset that all decision they took as the Operating Company are being leaked to the Prime Minister which they said is a breach of trust and the actions of the two members that are on both boards are not helping the growth and expansion of the Government owned company. The sources said that the Operating Board are working on having the two members that are on both boards replaced in order for them to preserve the integrity of the Operating Company and the Airport as a whole.
