St. Maarten Drunk Driver Saga Part 1

On Saturday the 15th of October I was on my way to cheer for the St. Maarten ladies volleyball team in the ECVA competition. Unfortunately, I never made it to the game as I was struck by what would later turn out to be a drunk driver. Without diving into too much details, the police were on the scene quite promptly and all required information was taken from both parties. During the interaction with the Police the intoxicated driver was not allowed to operate his vehicle any further. This was reassuring to me as I was under the impression that once intoxicated, i.e Read more

Gumbs, Peterson: President Of Parliament Does Not Speak For Pfp

~ Letter to Prime Minister is a masterclass in being tactless ~

Philipsburg, Sint Maarten — Party for Progress (PFP) Members of Parliament (MPs) Melissa Gumbs and Raeyhon Peterson on Wednesday, April 28, 2022, distanced themselves and their faction from the statements made by President of Parliament Grisha Heyliger-Marten in a recent letter to Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs.

Gumbs expressed her frustration with the continued misuse of the position of the President of Parliament, adding that letters sent by the President of Parliament give the impression that the words and sentiments are on behalf of the entire Sint Maarten Parliament.
The President of Parliament is trying to shield herself by acting as if she is only sending the letter in her capacity as a lone MP, Gumbs commented, However, much like when former President of Parliament Brison blundered in his letter to the Central Bank, this is again an instance of not recognizing that, when you are the President of Parliament, your words reflect and often give the impression of being representative of the entire Parliament.

Moreover, in parts of Heyliger-Martens letter, the wording itself gives the impression of a unified Parliament standing behind its President Read more

Closure Of Meeting Hampered Discussion Of Motion On Long-Lease Land, Says Pfp

~MPs to request public meeting~

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten —While creating a draft policy on long-lease land is commendable, Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) Egbert J. Doran did not comply with the motion submitted by the Party for Progress (PFP) and passed by Parliament in October 2021. The follow-up meeting to discuss the resolutions that the motion brought forward was abruptly closed before it could truly start.

This is why several MPs – including PFP’s Melissa Gumbs and Raeyhon Peterson – have requested a public meeting of Parliament to discuss the motions resolutions, especially in light of last weeks verdict of the Court of First Instance, which ordered the VROMI Minister to cease from issuing long-lease rights in Vineyard Heights Read more

Pfp Poses Questions About Vromi Tender Policy

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten Although on the surface the recently published Tender Procurement Policy for the Ministry of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI), published on 23 December 2021 in the Landscourant National Gazette, could be seen as a step in the right direction, the measure actually contravenes the countrys National Accountability Ordinance, thus making it illegal.

Part 1-2-3:

A land saga at Vineyard Heights (proposed housing development in Over the Bank) is currently brewing due to 25 persons receiving long lease parcels that were also allotted to 54 persons in 2016. The situation is technical because the issuance of government land (erfpacht) has no clear policy. This leads to the Minister of Public Housing, Spatial Planning, Environment and Infrastructure (VROMI) ultimately deciding who gets land. That lack of policy eliminates checks and balances Read more

Part 3: The Conspiracy To Ruin Mp Christopher Emmanuel

Malcolm X

If you stick a knife in my back 9 inches and pull it out 6 inches, thats not progress. If you pull it all the way out, thats not progress. The progress comes from healing the wound that the blow made. They havent begun to pull the knife out They wont even admit the knife is there.
Malcom X

I would like to start by thanking Raeyhon Peterson for finally admitting publicly and in writing that, as I had set out to bring to light, the accusations levied against MP Christopher Emmanuel and his Chief of Staff were a fabrication!

The additional colorful statements made by Peterson and the written attack on Emmanuel and his Chief of Staff by one of his supporters and another person in the newspaper are of no relevance to me, as Peterson with his statement has already proven that he lied to everyone involved or at least to the judicial authorities.

There are now public statements by the current Minister of VROMI Chris Wever (on video), the previous Minister of VROMI Miklos Giterson (on video), the Secretary General of the Ministry of VROMI Louis Brown (written documents) and Raeyhon Peterson (press release), verifying that there is no policy or structural procedures as it relates to the issuance of government long lease land.

And so, we move on.

Today we will delve into the screening process for ministers and the manner in which it is directly tied into the conspiracy to ruin MP Emmanuel Read more

Part # 2: The Conspiracy To Ruin Mp Christopher Emmanuel,.

Dear Editor,

And so we continue

ON QUOTE: The advice is already on the Council of Ministers agenda, so we only need to ensure that the complete file in hard copy is signed by everyone and then submitted to the Secretariat, as quickly as possible. If you adjust the attached advice and draft the decree, then VROMI will take care of the necessary signatures.
Email forwarded by Minister Miklos Giterson to Raeyhon Peterson – February 20, 2018

Bribery

The Oxford dictionary defines a bribe as: a sum of money or something valuable that you give or offer to somebody to persuade them to help you, especially by doing something dishonest

In part one of this series of articles I (the writer “To be Continued”) brought to light the fact that the accusations against MP Christopher Emmanuel and his Chief of Staff that procedures were not followed where it pertains to the issuance of government long lease land is a fabrication, as there is no policy and thus no structural procedures.

In the article, mention was made of certain players involved in the entire conspiracy Read more
