HARBOR VIEW, Philipsburg, Sint Maarten – As they take steps to restart the law programme on Sint Maarten, the University of Curacao Dr. Moises da Costa Gomez Sint Maarten Division in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport has taken steps to resume its law program on Sint Maarten.

Minister Vsa Meets Newly Appointed Ilo Caribbean Director

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – The Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labour, the Honourable Richard Panneflek, recently met with the newly appointed Director of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Decent Work Team and Office for the Caribbean, Mr. Dennis Zulu, and his support staff.

Minister Pannefleks discussions centered around the impact of COVID-19 on the labour market, the measures taken by the government of Sint Maarten to mitigate the spread, as well as the stimulus plan to assist those affected.  

The Director shared recent developments the ILO is undertaking with other Caribbean countries within the region regarding the impact that COVID-19 is having on their respective labour markets and how the ILO can provide the necessary technical assistance which would result in labour markets becoming more resilient and robust.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA), Richard Panneflek hereby informs the public that effective Monday, April 5, travel restrictions from the ABC islands to St Maarten will go into effect.
Considering the regional epidemiology and consequent likelihood of imported cases from highly concentrated pools of the UK variant (B.1.1.7), together with the absence of systematic nationwide genetic surveillance on Sint Maarten, CPS recommends temporary border closures to Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao, effective immediately Read more

Travel Restrictions In Effect For Abc Islands Effective Monday April 5Th

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The Minister of Public Health, Social Development and Labor (VSA), Richard Panneflek hereby informs the public that effective Monday April 5, travel restrictions from the ABC islands to St Maarten will go into effect.

Considering the regional epidemiology and consequent likelihood of imported cases from highly concentrated pools of the UK variant (B.1.1.7), together with the absence of systematic nationwide genetic surveillance on Sint Maarten, CPS recommends temporary border closures to Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, effective immediately.

CPS would review the situation on each island on a 2-weekly basis.

Returning residents from Bonaire, Curacao and Aruba will be required to hold a negative 72-hour PCR test Read more
