Sa’Vannah-Rae & Friends: A Dinner Musical Experience This Sunday

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - Fifteen-year-old Sa’Vannah-Rae Brooks is a budding musical prodigy. A student of Leroy Vlaun School of Music, Ms. Brooks plays the piano, guitar, violin, steelpan and cello.

Sa’Vannah Rae has been invited to attend the Philadelphia International Music Festival from July 16 – 29, 2016, to study with musicians of the world renowned Philadelphia Orchestra. Ms. Brooks will join an international group of talented, focused, young students, to enhance her skills on the violin, cello and piano at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Two of five political parties that registered to contest the parliamentary elections slated for Monday September 26th 2016 plans to merge in order to capture the Christian population in one group. SMN News learnt from well-placed sources that the St. Maarten Christian Party (SMCP) headed by Pastor Wycliffe Smith and the Millennial Advancement Party” (MAP) headed by Peter Gittens intends to merge and they will be making the announcement next Tuesday when the SMCP presents its manifesto.

New Parties Come With Joint Statement About Elections

St. Maarten – The five newly established political parties will come with a joint statement about the decision to move the elections from February 9 to September 26, Christian Party leader Wycliffe Smith told this newspaper yesterday evening. He declined to make an individual comment on the situation, but it stands to reason to assume that the five parties are not happy with the outcome of the process.
