POND ISLAND:---  TelEm Group employees responded wonderfully to an internal request for food donations for those in need within the St. Maarten community.

At the start of December, TelEm Group put out a call to employees asking them to dig deep into their own pantries to help bring a smile to the faces of those in the community who are short of food.

The organizers said they wanted to make a special effort of the food donations so that they could be distributed via various organizations on the island.

Pond Island:--- TelEm Group has announced that it will be closing its main building on Pond Island for an entire week, starting end of business day Friday, to replace a network of air conditioning ducts in the main air-handler room.

In a memo to personnel Tuesday, that they will be working remotely from home from next week, TelEm Group CEO, Mr. Kendall Dupersoy, assured that the closure is necessary to rid the A/C ducts of material that contributes to dust over the years.

PHILIPSBURG:--- St. Maartens primary telecommunication provider, TelEm Group, is responding positively to its new role in the St. Maarten community - Virtual classroom provider.

Exclusive: Smcu President Ludson Evers Busted For Trying To Rip Off Telem.

~ Evers wanted payout totaling Naf 202.864 and become a contractor.~

PHILIPSBURG:--- President of the St. Maarten Communication Union Ludson Evers has been caught with his pants down when documents provided to SMN News shows that Evers tried to rip off TELEM by submitting a timesheet for overtime post-Irma. SMN News learned that Evers told management of TELEM that the Chamber of Labor Unions made an agreement with the Labor Department to pay employees overtime during working hours. SMN News learned that Evers was not successful in getting the overtime payment he requested since the union could not produce the written agreement between the unions and the Department of Labor.
While Ludson along with other members of the Chamber of Labor Unions have been bashing TELEM for paying an excessive amount of money  to contractors, he himself submitted a proposal to TELEM management for early retirement on March 19th and to then acquire a contract as a contractor for the company.
Ludson wanted TELEM to pay him a total of NAF 202.864.00 which includes his social plan for an early retirement lump sum for 8 months NAF 65.440.00 and 24 months at 70% totaling NAF 137.424.00.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The TelEm Group's main building on Pond Island will be closed for two days (Thursday, May 28, and Friday, May 29, 2020) to allow for professional fumigation of offices and all public areas.
The closure is out of an abundance of caution in the event an employee in the building may have come into contact with a suspected Coronavirus patient.
In a Communique to employees, Wednesday, CEO, Mr. Kendall Dupersoy, said the professional cleaning is only being taken as a precautionary measure in keeping with the companys safety protocols.

PHILIPSBURG:---  With the weekend announcement that more businesses will be opening this week and also more traffic expected on the roads, TelEm Groups Outside Plant (OSP) is busy completing underground cable repair works in the St. Peters and Retreat Estate areas before a full lifting of the Coronavirus lockdown is announced.

PHILIPSBURG:--- TelEm Group is launching a new 9111 Emergency Bundle plan to assist prepaid subscribers in times of emergency.

 From 6:00 pm, today (Friday, April 24, 2020) all TelCell pre-paid subscribers will be able to tap into a reserved Bundle of Minutes and Data to make an SOS or other Emergency call to any TelCell mobile or TelEm landline number.

The Emergency Bundle is ONLY available for one-time use and once activated, The Emergency Bundle will remain available to the user for 15 days after which the bundle will expire.

PHILIPSBURG:---   TelEm Groups Outside Plant (OSP) technicians and sub-contractors will be replacing badly damaged underground cables in St. Peters, Saunders, and surrounding areas this coming Saturday and for the following eight days, during which internet and landline customers are being told to expect interruptions in service.

PHILIPSBURG:--- TelEm Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Kendall Dupersoy, has assured company technicians and engineers working in the field that their decision not to enter a home to complete a customer installation for fear of contracting the COVID-19 virus, is supported by management as part of the companys current Coronavirus Contingency Plan.

The CEO was responding to questions from one media body yesterday, suggesting that TelEm Group is sending its technical workers into customer homes without proper protection, therefore putting them as the risk of being infected from the Coronavirus - The comment was made prior to new government guidelines that go into effect Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
