PHILIPSBURG:--- As part of the Pre-St. Martin Day events, the Department of Sports has been hosting various sporting events. This weekend, October 28 and October 29th, in collaboration with #SXMSTRONG and the various sporting federations, a #SXMSTRONG Knock-Out sporting tournament will be held at the Raoul Illidge Sport Complex. Office World Donates Supplies To The Ministry Ecys

PHILIPSBURG —  As a way to commemorate the 28th Anniversary, Office World donated 1000 composition books and other school supplies to the Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Silveria Jacobs. The books are welcomed at an ideal time, especially after the passing of Hurricane Irma whereby many children may have lost their books and/or school supplies.

RING ROAD:--- As part of the emergency relief efforts, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport (ECYS) received 3 pavilions from the Netherlands on the Karel Doorman’s first trip to St. Maarten. The construction of the first of four pavilions began on Monday, October 16th on the Ring Road. The pavilions were given to the schools which received the most damage and were left without classrooms or an alternate location. The Charlotte Brookson Academy, the St. Maarten Academy and the MAC High are the three schools which will be utilizing the pavilions until the repairs at the schools have been completed.
