Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs Addresses Halt Of Fifth Tranche Of Liquidity Support

Philipsburg Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs expresses grave concern for the future of relations within the Kingdom, when out of one side of their mouths, the Dutch Government claims it is looking out for the welfare of the people of St. Maarten and continuously seeks ways and means to move the goal post even after conditions have been met and agreements signed. In the case of the recent move by the State Secretary of Interior Affairs and Kingdom Relations Knops to further delay the 5th tranche of liquidity support of 39 million Euros, Prime Minister Jacobs sees this as uncalled for and totally against a legally established decision and the rules of order of the Kingdom Council of Ministers (RMR) meeting.

The 5th tranche of liquidity support was first delayed in March 2021 when the agenda point for liquidity was removed for other unrelated reasons (need for assurances from parliament as to their stance on the Caribbean Entity for Reform and Development (COHO)) which was later resolved and approved after being placed on the subsequent RMR agenda Read more

Emmanuel Not Surprised By Actions Of Weak Pm Jacobs, Sneaky Knops

~ Says Doncher the latest scapegoat for govt. failures ~

Member of Parliament Christophe Emmanuel

PHILIPDBURG, Sint Maarten — Independent Member of Parliament Christophe Emmanuel on Wednesday said that two things became very clear when State Secretary Raymond Knops once again blackmailed St. Maarten in return for liquidity: The Dutch government recognizes that they are dealing with a weak St. Maarten government and an even weaker Prime Minister and the professed integrity of the Dutch government is worthless.

In the aftermath of the letter, Emmanuel said the PM and her government put their weakness on full display when they suspended the Chairman of the airport holding board Dexter Doncher for doing what they (the government) supported all along, claiming corporate governance failures which, the MP said, ironically implicates the government for failure of oversight Read more
