Government Working On Strengthening Cps And 914.

PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of VSA Richard Panneflek said that is Ministry is looking at ways to further strengthen CPS by seeking to have USZV assist them with manning calls placed to 914, the Minister also said that he personally contacted TELEM to further upgrade the 914 lines as it is not functioning properly.

31 New Recovered Covid-19 Cases

~ Now 246 active cases ~

PHILIPSBURG--St. Maarten has recorded 31 newly-recovered COVID-19 cases as of Wednesday, August 26, reducing the total active cases to 246.

A total of 24 new cases of COVID-19 have been recorded. The new total of confirmed cases is 442.

CountryS Covid-19 Cases Now At 253

PHILIPSBURG--Ten new positive COVID-19 cases have been recorded for St. Maarten as of Tuesday, August 25, bringing the total number of active cases to 253.

The total number of positive cases for the country is now 418.

Collective Prevention Services (CPS) is currently monitoring 244 persons in home isolation. Eight patients remain hospitalised at St. Maarten Medical Center and one patient is isolated and being monitored. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 remains at 17. The number of recovered is now at 148, with one additional recovered person recorded.

There are now 465 persons currently in quarantine based on contact-tracing investigations carried out by CPS of persons who may have been in contact with any of the active cases.

Priority Shelter Enhancements On Target For Late August

PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten Upgrades to designated facilities on St Maarten that are also used as hurricane shelters are fully underway as part of the Emergency Recovery Project 1 of the Sint Maarten Trust Fund. PHILIPSBURG:--- Minister of VSA Richard Panneflek confirmed on Wednesday that CPS does have some issues when it comes to responding to 914 calls. The Minister said that CPS is short-staffed and since they are busy with contact tracing there are not enough staff members that can be easily reached. Panneflek said his Ministry is busy sourcing other volunteers and will also take up on some offers that were made to the government to fill the gap at CPS.
Panneflek warned that persons that are having flu-like symptoms and are not yet tested due to the setbacks at CPS should stay home and limit their contact with anyone in order to not spread the virus further.

PHILIPSBURG:--- A civil servant working at the Government Administration Building posted on her Facebook page that she tested positive for the virus. The civil servant said in her post that she has always said that if it happened to her she would be as open as the Airport and that the Coronavirus have chosen the wrong warrior.
At the moment, CPS is busy with contact tracing in the government administration building where the civil servant works.
It should be known that the civil servants husband is the Physical Education teacher at Learning Unlimited while her children also attend the same school.
