Separation Of Church And State?

As the word state is not applicable to the St. Maarten context permit me to use the word “government” instead.

The St. Maarten Christian Party (SMCP) believes that neither the church nor the government should have any form of institutional control over each other. In other words, government should not dictate what the church should do, neither should the church dictate what the government must do Read more

Lpg Gas Prices Out Of Control

Taken from Claude “Chacho” Peterson Facebook LIKE page… click here !!!!

Well here are the facts for Sxm people. Today after an attempt was made to say I was full of fluff because a particular MP took offence to my post on the gas issue, I went out to see what really was the price at resellers. You all can view my results below:

Claude chacho Peterson

Middle Region $13.20
Sucker Garden Gas King $13.20
Mingo gas station $13.25
Victory Market Madame Estate $13.50
Sol Madame Estate $13.25
Texaco Bush road $13.75
Petro Plus bush road $23.33
Tackling Colebay $24.00

Now what is very clear to me is that this NA led government in their rush to gain political mileage have totally messed up this industry and it is a free for all by resellers on a commodity which is price regulated by government.
In the process the people, including myself are the ones being BAMBOOZLED, including ME.
Now what is important for me now seeing that none of these prices were the same is what is the official regulated price at this moment.

This MP championed this cause from the benches of opposition but now that NA is in power it is ok Read more

Who Are You Voting For? A Minister Or A Parliamentarian?

This September when you go to the polls you will not be electing ministers. Neither will you be electing a Prime Minister.

Instead, the people of St. Maarten will be voting in fifteen persons to represent them in Parliament. What is the job of these fifteen representatives? We must be aware that Parliamentarians are not elected to office to build bridges, construct schools or design hospitals. They are not in Parliament to negotiate contracts or to execute projects. This is the job of a minister or the Council of Ministers.

They are the ones to execute plans, programs and projects Read more

Become A Part Of The Solution

Born of a St. Maarten father and a Saban mother, I was raised in a family with strong Biblical values.

I left my parental home to further my education abroad, and took those values with me. Like most youngsters, when I tried to do my own thing, those values would tug at my conscience and keep me in line.

Living, studying and working in the Netherlands have taught me to rely on the values I was brought up with, and which I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The teaching I have received at home, the experience I gained abroad and the fact that God has kept me, have shaped me into the person I am today Read more

Letter To The Editor

As a God-fearing woman/wife/mother of three I decided to take up this new challenge to run for Parliament in the upcoming elections.

My reason for doing so is the fact that through the years I have seen a lot of changes in St. Maarten. Some good and some extremely bad that were not in the best interest of our people. St. Maarten has become a country of many surprises especially by those in whom we have put our trust.

For example, you can wake up any morning just to hear that the government has fallen Read more
