Gendarme Seriously Injured In The Leg After Being Hit By A Scooter.

MARIGOT:--- Early Tuesday evening, the Gendarmes carried out a CODAF operation in the Sandy Ground area. As part of this operation, a detour was set up on the public highway. "A scooter arrived and did not respect the detour. As such the scooter rider hit the Gendarme in the leg causing him serious injuries.
The gendarme sustained injuries to his lower limbs. He was treated by the emergency services and transported to Louis Constant Fleming Hospital.

Sxmgov Radio 107.9 Fm Back On The Air.

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):--- SXMGOV Radio 107.9 FM, the official government radio station of Sint Maarten, is back on the air. The technical issue was addressed by station partner C3 on resolved on Saturday.

On Friday, radio listeners were informed that the station is off the air due to a transmission error at the antenna site.

Maurice Lake, Head of the Department of Communication (DCOMM), extended his sincere apologies to the people of Sint Maarten for the temporary inconvenience and assured them at that time that every effort was being made to resolve the issue promptly.

Busy 2023 Atlantic Hurricane Season Comes To An End. We Must Be Thankful Says Richardson.

PHILIPSBURG (DCOMM):---  The 2023 Atlantic hurricane season officially comes to an end on Thursday, November 30th.

There were 20 named storms, of which seven (7) became hurricanes, and of those three (3) became major hurricanes (Category 3+ on the Saffir-Simpson Scale). An average season has 14 named storms; seven hurricanes; and three major hurricanes.

There was no storm activity between July 26 and August 19. From August 20 until October 6, the vast number of storms formed starting with Emily all the way down to Philippe.
Bret and Cindy both formed in mid-June.
Hurricane Lee was the seasons only Category 5 hurricane who achieved such a status in the open ocean east of the Leeward Islands.

In late October, Category 1 Hurricane Tammy, was another system that barely missed the Leeward Islands Read more
