Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
St. Maarten – The Soca Rumble “Battle of the Best” on April 25 will feature 24 soloists and three groups or bands that will be competing in Power Soca and Groovy Soca. The winner of each section takes home $10,000.
The deadline for participants to submit their music via email is Friday. “We are trying to raise the level of Soca music. St. Maarten by now should be included in the conversation of great Soca music in the Caribbean. We have some talented artists. We HOPE Soac Rumble grows as a vehicle to help improve music and showcase our artists in the region,†promoter Grisha Marten said.
The solo artists performing are: Darin Hodge aka King Vers, Thimothy van Heyningen (TMO), Kirk Williams (Mighty Kirk), Rohan Williams (Rohie0, Erno York (Optimus Prime), Leroy Brooks (King Beau Beau), Rolanda Webster (Roro), Roxanne Webster (Roxy), Andrew Richardson (His Majesty Baker Jr.), Addison Richardson (Shadz), Ralford Joseph (Remo), Lorenzo Gomez (Sigma Defence), Olivia Murray (Singing Olivia), Jasmine Richardon (Lady Baker), Shawn Hodge-Dolphin (King Ashandi), Kelvin James-Hodge (King James), Ricky Bertie (Ricky da Fox), Pedro Jones (Pro Jones), George Jones (Big George), Claire Guyot (Gaia), Rafael Labega (King Melody), Randolph Bass (Bass), Samantha Joseph (Sammie J) and Nicholas Henrietta (Magic).
The three participating bands are: Control Band, 4M Band and Carnival Parliament.
