style="text-align: left;">PHILIPSBURG:--- Member of Parliament Christopher Emmanuel described the supervisory board and management team of GEBE as managers of a gentlemen's club and he felt they were disrespectful and ill-prepared when they went to Parliament on Wednesday. MP Emmanuel made clear that all members in managerial positions at GEBE are male and he wants to know when would the management and the supervisory board see it fit to promote some of the women they have working in the organization to managerial positions. MP Emmanuel further stated that he is disappointed with the answers they provided to Parliament. He said while the Chairman of the supervisory board Rene Richardson said that GEBE is a government owned company he wants the chairman of the Supervisory Board to understand his own statements and know that he could be sent home. Emmanuel said that the only reason the management and supervisory board has this attitude is because of their ego and testosterone. Emmanuel further asked the representatives of GEBE to tell him from what study they got the figure "7" to describe the morale of the employees of GEBE when their own plans clearly state that there is no one to take complaints or even grant the workers of GEBE help when needed. "This attitude is not acceptable to parliament because the Members of Parliament were elected by the people of St. Maarten." MP William Marlin also called on the members of the management and supervisory board to be truthful to the Parliament of St. Maarten. Marlin said based on information he received from persons who looked at a TV talkshow, the chairman of the supervisory board announced that a waste management plant will be constructed in the Cole Bay/Cay Bay area, yet the Prime Minister of St. Maarten Marcel Gumbs who was also part of the Central Committee meeting on Wednesday told Parliament during the budget debate that there are no plans by GEBE to construct such a plant. Marlin further stated that it appears to him that the chairman of the supervisory board has more information than the management team of GEBE.
MP Sarah Wescot Williams had to call the representatives of GEBE to order when they began responding to the questions posed to them. MP Wescot Williams pointed out that the questions that were posed were not being answered. After her remarks the representatives of GEBE asked for more than one adjournment in order to answer the questions posed to them.
