Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - Prime Minister of St. Maarten, the Honorable Marcel Gumbs made clear on Wednesday that the government is not aware of any plans to realize a Waste Treatment Facility in Cay Bay, as there has been no proposals put forward to government regarding the involvement of GEBE in such a project.
However, in the event that such a project is presented to government, there must be sufficient guarantee of success to be accepted by the government, the Prime Minister said.
Prime Minister Gumbs also talked about the fuel clause of GEBE in light of global decrease in oil prices.
That issue, according to him will have to be discussed with the electricity company.
"It is the position of the government that changes in the fuel price, especially regarding possible relief to the consumer should be applied as soon as possible," the Prime Minister reiterated this week.
