UPPER PRINCE'S QUARTER--A 72-year-old man passed away around 4:00am Wednesday, December 31, after being found wounded in his home in Upper Prince's Quarter around 2:00am. The police are treating the death as suspicious. The victim has been identified by local sources as Eddy York Sr.

A local source stated that the man had been stabbed while his girlfriend and her teenage daughter were in the house. The Daily Herald understands that both women were heard as witnesses, but are not being treated as suspects at this time.

The police confirmed the death of the man, but in the interest of the investigation, the police could not confirm the nature of the victim's injuries.

A police press release states that the police received a report from a witness around 2:00am stating that the man had been found in the bedroom of his house. Several police officers and paramedics rushed to the scene and started CPR on the victim, but the man was pronounced dead by the medical doctor around 4:00am.

Forensic Department employees were called to the scene to collect evidence and detectives started talking to the witnesses who were present in the house at the time.

"At this time, the investigation is ongoing and, for now, this is the only information that's available," said acting police spokesman Inspector Steven Carty in the press release. The police appealed to members of the public for information about this case, even if it seems like a minor detail, requesting that they contact the police at tel. 542-2222 and ask for the Detective Department.

Potential witnesses also can go to the police station to talk in person to one of the detectives handling the case. Anyone who wants to share information anonymously can call the anonymous tip line at tel. 9300.
