~ Residents urged to pay utility bills to avoid disconnection. ~

PHILIPSBURG:--- Prime Minister Silveria Jacobs confirmed on Wednesday that two persons were appointed to the Supervisory Board of Directors of NV GEBE. Jacobs said that there are now four members on the board while the required amount is seven.
SMN News learned that the two members are former Justice Minister Dennis Richardson and Charlesworth Sydney, the Chief Financial Officer of FLOW/UTS.
The Prime Minister said that the shareholder has been receiving reports from the Temporary Manager and Special Representative Troy Washington, she said the second report was a bit late but the shareholder has received the second and third reports.
Jacobs said she would not divulge information regarding the statutory director Merill Temmer who was suspended on September 12th, 2022, based on the companys articles of incorporation a statutory director can only be suspended for a period of two months. The SBOD can increase the suspension by a period of one month, by then a firm decision must be taken on whether the statutory director will be dismissed or if the suspension will be lifted.
Sources said that the SBOD and shareholders already took a decision to dismiss Temmer. No details on the decision have been released by either party thus far.

In the meantime, the Prime Minister of St. Maarten has called on all residents to pay their utility bills as they are using both electricity and water every day. She said GEBE also has bills to pay and only when their clients paid them, then would be able to make their payments to keep the electricity on and water flowing through the taps.
