36 Confirmed Covid-19 Cases Today.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Minister of Public Health, Social Development, and Labor, Omar Ottley extends his sincere condolences to the family and friends of Sint Maartens 48th COVID-19 victim, who has passed away. Minister Ottley wishes the family strength during this time.

As of August 27th, there were thirty-six (36) persons who tested positive for COVID-19; however, thirty-three (33) persons have recovered; bringing the total active cases to three hundred fourteen (314). The total number of confirmed cases is now three thousand six hundred sixteen (3616).

The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring three hundred (300) people in home isolation. Fourteen (14) patients are hospitalized at the St. Maarten Medical Center. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 has increased to forty-eight (48).

The number of people recovered since the first case surfaced on St. Maarten has increased to three thousand two hundred fifty-four (3254). Two hundred thirty-seven (237) people are in quarantine based on contact tracing investigations carried out by CPS.

The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development, and Labour (VSA) Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory Sint Maarten (HCLS) have tested 3, 592 travelers arriving at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), while CPS tested 41, 509 people throughout the community. As the numbers continue to fluctuate, CPS will continue to actively execute its contact tracing measures.

All unvaccinated persons are encouraged to come out to the vaccination pop-up drive tomorrow Saturday, August 28th, at the CPS Vineyard Office Park from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Persons interested are asked to walk with any form of photo ID for registration.
