Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
~Female taxi driver at the helm~
PHILIPSBURG:--- For the first time in 36 years of the Dutch Sint Maarten Taxi Association's history a, the female president has been elected.
33-year-old St. Maartener Ms. Maya Friday won the presidential position with 80 votes against former president Conrad Richardson who collected 8 votes.
The Association's new Treasurer is Mr. Guillermo Simmons with 63 votes. He competed against Bernadette Gumbs (16 votes) and Conrad Richardson (8 votes).
Mrs. Alvita Lake collected 82 votes. No other members were postulated for this position.
The newly elected board is looking forward to working in the best interest of its members for their 1-year term.
The goal is to show the drivers what good leadership looks like.
