8 Confirmed Covid-19 Cases Today.

PHILIPSBURG:--- The Minister of Public Health, Social Development, and Labor Omar Ottley extends his heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Sint Maartens 29th COVID-19 victim, who has passed away. He wishes the family strength during their time of bereavement.

As of June 5th, there were eight (8) persons who tested positive for COVID-19; however, four (4) persons have recovered; bringing the total active cases to eighty-two (82). The total number of confirmed cases is now two thousand four hundred seventy-nine (2479).

The Collective Prevention Services (CPS) are monitoring seventy-seven (77) people in home isolation. Five (5) patients are hospitalized at the St. Maarten Medical Center. The total number of deaths due to COVID-19 has increased to twenty-nine (29).

The number of people recovered since the first case surfaced on St. Maarten has increased to two thousand three hundred sixty-eight (2368). One hundred thirteen (113) people are in quarantine based on contact tracing investigations carried out by CPS.

The Ministry of Public Health, Social Development, and Labour (VSA) Airport Health Team in collaboration with Health Care Laboratory Sint Maarten (HCLS) have tested 3, 018 travelers arriving at the Princess Juliana International Airport (PJIA), while CPS tested 30, 424 people throughout the community. As the numbers continue to fluctuate, CPS will continue to actively execute its contact tracing measures.

Minister Ottley encourages everyone to register to be vaccinated. Walk-ins are accepted. Persons who are interested in getting vaccinated are asked to walk with a form of photo ID for registration.
