Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
GREAT BAY, Sint Maarten – One of the persons tested positive for the virus, is a Member of Parliament of the United People Party, Sidharth Bijlani.
This was confirmed by the president of Parliament and leader of the political party, Rolando Brison in a Facebook post Thursday night, in which, he wishes his colleague and team mate a speedy recovery.
Bijlani contracting the virus does not pose any threat to the other MPs, as they have been conducting the daily affairs of the House of Assembly in virtual settings.
MP Bijlani is the second Member of the House to contract the virus.The first one to test positive for Covid 19 was Reayhon Peterson of the opposition, Party for Progress.
He was one of many persons who recently congregated at a night club, where no social distancing was enforced.The two MPs are said to be in isolation.As of Thursday night, Sint Maarten had 49 positive confirmed cases of Covid 19, one hospitalized while one remains in an isolation facility.
