Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten – Preliminary results in the just concluded snapped parliamentary elections held on Thursday, January 9th are in and the National Alliance and its 22 candidates amassed a total of 4,694 votes.
The UP Party is next in line with 3,232 votes. The two largest parties were followed by the US Party who garnered 1,759 votes the new comer PFP received 1, 408, SMCP gathered 752 and PPA acquired 326 votes.
There were 111 candidates representing seven political parties taking part in the elections. Overall, 13,735 persons voted in the elections, which also had a total of 89 blank votes, while there were 313 invalid votes.
That means that the National Alliance has captured 6 seats, the UP 4 seats, USP 2 seats, PFP 2 seats and UD garnered one seat.
Meanwhile, the highest vote getters in the just concluded elections were from the National Alliance, Egbert Jurendy Doran 843 votes, Silveria Jacobs 753, Christopher Emanuel 687, William Marlin 390, Ardwell Irion 345 and Rudolphe Samuel 248.
For the UP Party, Grisha Martin- Heyliger received 656, Rolando Brison 488, Omar Ottley 418 and Sidharth Bijlani 290.
For the USP Claudius Buncamper received 301 and Akeem Arrindell 229, while the leader of the party was only able to get 212 votes.
For the United Decorates Sarah Wescot-Williams received 353 votes and for PFP Melissa Gumbs received 559, while Raeyhon Peterson received 219 votes.
