Minister De Weever Breaks His Silence, Says Decision To Stay In Parliament Is Complicated

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - Member of Parliament elect, outgoing Minister of Health, Social Affairs and Labor, the Honorable Cornelius de Weever has broken his silence.

While reading a carefully worded statement the number 2 candidate on the slate of the Democratic Party told our news department about his decision to accept his seat in parliament and not to continue in the Council of Ministers.

"My decision to go to parliament is a complicated one, and a surprising one for many, just as it was for me," Minister Cornelius de Weever told us.

According to the Minister, it was not a choice that he thought he would be making at anytime during the election, however, the dynamics of our government system is volatile.

He specifically made mentioned of the risks that are associated with one becoming a Minister.
