Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, Sint Maarten — The St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF) has outsourced the organizing of the 2017 NAGICO Calypso Competition to Fernando Clark, who is in the process of finalizing a new foundation under which the NAGICO Calypso competition will be organized.
The Committee has started the ground work for the task at hand. The intention is to enhance the calypso art form and to attract more participants. Over the last years we have seen an increase in female participants and we want to see that interest extended to younger singers, males and females.
The Committee extends an invitation to all Calypsonians and prospective Calypsonians to a meeting on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at 7:00pm in the A.C. Wathey Legislative Hall, in the Government Administration Building in Philipsburg.
All interested participants are encouraged to attend this meeting as the committee wishes to discuss important topics such as additional prizes, calypso tents, the judging system and the conditions to participate. The committee appreciates the input from the participants.
Registration forms will be distributed during the meeting on Wednesday, August 24, 2016, which is the first in a series meetings to be held between the committee and the calypsonians.
