Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten - The five political parties, who needed to have their list endorsed by 146 eligible voters, were out at 9am Tuesday at the census office seeking to attract voters.
The parties seeking list endorsement were the PPA, SDM, OSPP, HOPE and the SMCP.
Officials of the Census Office including the Deputy Head of the Census office Kathy Snyders gave us the final results of the voting on Tuesday. The voting process which started at 9am was closed at 4pm.
In the end, four of the five political parties got the required support from the electorate of St. Maarten Tuesday and is now expected to be allowed to contest the September 26th Parliamentary elections.
The parties who passed this hurdle on Monday are now looking forward to contesting the elections and having success with the support of the people. The HOPE party is however hopeful that they will be given another opportunity to reach out to the electorate.
