Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG:---- Minister Plenipotentiary Henrietta Doran-York, although very pleased with the quantity of Security officers that are in the public as well as the private sector throughout Sint Maarten, is also of the opinion that it is widely noticeable that the quality of many of these officers, is way below par.
It is therefore that on Tuesday July 26th, 2016, the Minister Doran-York met with Mr. H. Neddermeijer, who is the Director of the Security training Academy of Scientia, and Mr. R. Meelis, General Director, the Executives of the Scientia N.V., which is an Institute for the Training and Education in Safety, Security, Integrity and Management.
Minister Doran-York, who has a background of about 3 decades in the justice and security field, and is very passionate about security on the Sint Maarten, is seeking ways to enhance the level of security, both on the Public as well as the Private level on the Island.
After hearing about Scientia N.V. and doing extensive research, Minister Doran-York decided to meet with these executives, who are no stranger to the Caribbean, in order to obtain first-hand information from them pertaining to their Trainings and Courses, and to see which ones will best suite Sint Maarten.The Training Institute Scientia , focuses on training persons on various levels, starting from the layman level to academic levels. Their areas of expertise range from Security, Safety, Integrity and Management. Scientia further provides security risks audits to companies and governmental institutions.The Minister Plenipotentiary, was very impressed by their track record and after being sufficiently informed, the Minister thanked the two Directors, and stated that she will do the necessary communications with her fellow colleague Ministers on Sint Maarten, and in particular with the Prime Minister who is the Minister of General Affairs and the Minister of Justice, in order to relay her concerns in the area of security, and to offer her assistance where it pertains to enhancing security on Sint Maarten in all areas, which will be much welcomed by tourists as residents alike.
