Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
MAHO--Parliament Chairperson Sarah Wescot-Williams and Finance Minister Richard Gibson jointly witnessed the establishment of the foundation called “Financial Institute St. Maarten†at the Central Bank of Curaçao and St. Maarten (CBCS) Conference held in Sonesta Maho Beach Resort this week. The two-day conference ended on Friday.
The Foundation will provide training courses focused on the needs of St. Maarten’s financial and public sectors. It will identify the training needs of the financial and public sectors and design specific programmes that cater to these needs. In this way, it will support the government and Parliament's goal of elevating the knowledge level in these sectors, to the benefit of St. Maarten's people.
The project is a result of discussions between CBCS President Dr. Emsley Tromp and Wescot-Williams, going back to her tenure as Prime Minister of St. Maarten.
Wescot-Williams and Gibson, both fervent supporters of continued education, said they will do their utmost so that the Foundation becomes operational this year.
