Unbiased look at the Sint Maarten Elections
PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten – United People (UP) party Member of Parliament Tamara Leonard has requested a list of all consultants working for Government and their associated consulting fees and benefits (housing, allowances and transportation etc.) per ministry.
MP Leonard urged Government in the letter to provide the information requested prior to the start of the Central Committee meeting on the draft 2016 budget. She asked in her letter for the information to be provided by Friday to aid in preparation for the meetingon Mondayin the Parliament Building. No information has yet been received.
MP Leonard's letter asking for the information from Finance Minister Richard Gibson was sent via Chairwoman of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams also calls for the provision of copies of the financials of St. Maarten Carnival Development Foundation (SCDF), St. Maarten Heineken Regatta and all other foundations and groups listed as government subsidy recipients in the draft budget.
MP Leonard, in another letter requesting information, asked for a breakdown of the amounts Government collects in refundable residence permit fees and list showing Government vehicles on lease, rented or fully owned by Government.
MP Leonard hopes she will receive the requested information before the start of the budget debate.
